Marine Engineering

LCE provides engineering and technical support services to the U.S. Navy and other maritime activities (USCG, MSC and foreign Navies) throughout the world, including shipboard technical services when necessary. We support various program initiatives over the full life cycle spectrum of machinery systems and associated marine engineering. We provide Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in areas that include electrical, mechanical, systems engineering, and software development for ship programs.

Our SMEs support the fleet’s propulsion systems, power systems, machinery control systems, damage control systems, auxiliary systems and bridge/navigation systems. U.S. Navy ships are typically designed to operate in excess of a 30-year life cycle, beginning with technology R&D, ship design, acquisition and construction, through modernization and continued in-service engineering support over the life of the ship.

Depending upon the specific phase of a ship’s life cycle, our LCE SMEs are involved in engineering and technical services focused in these five areas:

  • Shipboard Electric Propulsion and Power Systems
  • Shipboard Energy Storage Systems and Technology
