Process Safety Management (PSM), driven by the OSHA 1910.119 standard, aims to prevent the unwanted release of hazardous chemicals, especially into locations which could expose employees and the environment to serious hazards. One of the elements in the standard that presents a compliance challenge is establishing Mechanical Integrity (MI), which ensures the integrity and safe operation of process equipment through inspection, testing, preventive maintenance and quality assurance.
