Shipboard Auxiliary Systems Project Examples

USNS Martin Modifications

Worked with Patriot Contract Shipping, an MSC contract operator, to create work items and drawings for three different system modifications aboard the USNS Martin.  The first system modification was the replacement of the existing SSDG switchboard breakers with new breakers that can be racked out for service without shutting the plant down. The second modification was the removal of the three-way Metrex valve and the replacement of the existing cargo hold salt-water pump motors with VFDs to better regulate the salt-water flow to the chillers. The third modification was the replacement of the existing reverse osmosis unit with a new steam-type evaporator system to produce higher quality potable water.

USNS Zeus SRD Updates

Worked with the Military Sealift Command to update SRD drawings for the USNS Zeus. This process included converting the drawings from the scanned-in-pdf format into a usable AutoCAD format, then updating the drawings to reflect the actual condition aboard the ship utilizing shipyard as-builts and redlines, as well as documenting changes found on the shipcheck.
