Rick, can you tell us a little about yourself?

I’m originally from the East Coast, born in upstate New York. Dad was in the Navy so our family moved often until we put our roots down in Bremerton, WA.  I met and married my wife Darcie in 1979, and 37 years later she is still putting up with me.  We have three children Jaimie, Lindsay, and Garrett, who have given us 7 awesome grand kids.  We love to work around the house and yard building things and sitting around the fire. We enjoy camping around the beautiful Pacific Northwest and take advantage of all the water and trails. My entire family is true loud and proud 12’s (Seahawks fans), and we all gather often to watch the games at each other’s homes.

What do you do at LCE?

My main job at LCE is to provide remote advanced planning and material ordering for ships repairs and modernization for the fleet in SRF Yokosuka Japan.  Our team writes Task Group Instructions (TGI’s) for work in SRF Yokosuka, Japan. We have three groups of talented folks (structural, electrical, and mechanical), and we all put our collective heads together to get through some complex jobs.  A few examples of jobs include the SSTG Generator Upgrade on the USS Blue Ridge LCC-19 and overhauls of all below and above waterline seawater hull valves with waster sleeves on the USS Joh McCain DDG-54. We rely heavily on our onsite counterparts in SRF Yokosuka Japan who provide us with necessary ship checks, photographs of shipboard conditions of interferences, drawings, and onsite communications with the various local shop trades and ship project personnel.

What do you enjoy most about working at LCE?

I enjoy coming in every day to work with some familiar faces and getting to know and work with new ones. In my short time with LCE, it’s all part of that feeling of family that I definitely appreciate while getting the work done at the same time.
